Manchester United fans
From Wikipedia:
The atmosphere produced by the fans has, however, been criticised at times. In 2000, comments made about sections of the Old Trafford crowd by the then-club captain Roy Keane, claiming some fans could not "spell football, never mind understand it" led to them being dubbed the "prawn sandwich brigade"FULL DISCLOSURE: I am a Manchester City supporter, so United fans can suck it.

Hammer Time
Hammer's dance style not only helped pave the way for the Bay Area Movement called Hyphy,[141] but also helped to bring hip-hop and rap to the Bay Area. His dancing skills are still taught to this day. With his popular trademark Hammer Pants, one phenomenal difference from Hammer versus other performers during his heyday was that he was an entertainer, both during live shows and in music videos. His flamboyant dancing was as much a part of his performances as rapping and musical instruments were.
With high-energy dance routines, he was often considered one of the greatest dancers. While adding his own techniques, Hammer adopted styles from James Brown and The Nicholas Brothers such as the splits, and feverish choreographed dance routines including leaps and slides, most notably. His creation of such dances as "Hammer Dance"[142] (or the "Typewriter Dance") and the use of "The Running Man" and the "Butterfly," among others, made his flashy and creative dance skills unlike any others at the time.

Mysterious black goo in Alaska
From the Anchorage Daily News via io9:
It's certainly biological. It's definitely not an oil product of any kind. It has no characteristics of an oil, or a hazardous substance, for that matter. It's definitely, by the smell and the makeup of it, it's some sort of naturally occurring organic or otherwise marine organism. in recent history I don't think we've seen anything like this. Maybe inside lakes or in stagnant water or something, but not (in the ocean) that we could recall ... If it was something we'd seen before, we'd be able to say something about it. But we haven't. [The stuff is] gooey [and dark]. It's pitch black when it hits ice and it kind of discolors the ice and hangs off of it. It kind of has an odor; I can't describe it.
Weird, wild stuff.

BabyHuey just got back from Taste of Chicago, which tasted great of course. Robinson's Ribs, some Lou Mal's deep dish pizza and some Eli's Cheesecake. Rock!!!!!!!! To everyone back in LA, enjoy your raw fish and grain or whatever you eat there.
BabyHuey went to a local hometown Northbrook bar last night, it was a nice change of pace from Los Angeles bars; no bitter bouncers screaming at you for your ID, no bratty bartenders ignoring you when you just want a beer, no lame DJ pretending to actually do stuff while the song sounds exactly the same as normal, no 12 dollar drinks, no bouncers screaming at everyone to get out a half hour before closing.
* Actual profile picture. Okay, not really.
** For all the shit this person talks on Los Angeles, he/she lives there.

New cat research
"If you've ever wondered who's in control, you or your cat, a new study points to the obvious. It's your cat.
Household cats exercise this control with a certain type of urgent-sounding, high-pitched meow, according to the findings.
This meow is actually a purr mixed with a high-pitched cry. While people usually think of cat purring as a sign of happiness, some cats make this purr-cry sound when they want to be fed. The study showed that humans find these mixed calls annoying and difficult to ignore."

The Cretacaeous Period
"The Cretaceous is usually noted for being the last portion of the "Age of Dinosaurs", but that does not mean that new kinds of dinosaurs did not appear then. It is during the Cretaceous that the first ceratopsian and pachycepalosaurid dinosaurs appeared. Also during this time, we find the first fossils of many insect groups, modern mammal and bird groups, and the first flowering plants. The breakup of the world-continent Pangaea, which began to disperse during the Jurassic, continued. This led to increased regional differences in floras and faunas between the northern and southern continents.
The end of the Cretaceous brought the end of many previously successful and diverse groups of organisms, such as non-avian dinosaurs and ammonites. This laid open the stage for those groups which had previously taken secondary roles to come to the forefront. The Cretaceous was thus the time in which life as it now exists on Earth came together."

Rhubarb
"Rhubarb belongs to genus Rheum, a genus of perennial plants that grows from thick short rhizomes. The genus is in the family Polygonaceae, and includes the vegetable rhubarb (Rheum rhabarbarum or Rheum x hybridum.) The plants have large leaves that are somewhat triangular shaped with long fleshy petioles. The flowers are small, greenish-white to rose-red, and grouped in large compound leafy inflorescences. A number of varieties of rhubarb have been domesticated both as medicinal plants and for human consumption. While the leaves are toxic, the stalks are used in pies and other foods for their tart flavor."

The planet Jupiter
"Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system. Its diameter is 88,846 miles (142,984 kilometers), more than 11 times that of Earth, and about one-tenth that of the sun. It would take more than 1,000 Earths to fill up the volume of the giant planet. When viewed from Earth, Jupiter appears brighter than most stars. It is usually the second brightest planet -- after Venus.
...Jupiter's most outstanding surface feature is the Great Red Spot, a swirling mass of gas resembling a hurricane. The widest diameter of the spot is about three times that of Earth. The color of the spot usually varies from brick-red to slightly brown. Rarely, the spot fades entirely. Its color may be due to small amounts of sulfur and phosphorus in the ammonia crystals."

New binary star discovery
Binary Star Discovery Allows Scientists To Detect Invisible "Gravity Waves"
"...Most simulations of the early universe, in which clouds of primordial gas collapsed to form the first luminous objects, suggest that early stars formed separately from each other. Matthew Turk and colleagues now show that it is possible for single primordial clouds to break up into two dense cores.
The authors' three-dimensional calculations followed the evolution of primordial gas and dark matter, starting from conditions that are likely to have existed in the early universe. The results suggest that these cores may evolve to form binary star systems.
These findings may also have implications for detecting both gravity waves — disturbances predicted by general relativity, which haven't yet been detected directly — and the ultra-energetic explosions known as gamma ray bursts, since binary systems are thought to be at the origins of both of these phenomena."
